- toxic environment due to awful middle management (in tech) - highly political environment - quarterly lay off exercise to fire everybody they can spare (including some top performers) - general tendency to consider engineers as worthless cogs in a machine - promise and don't deliver on comp - business is not doing nearly as well as they pretend
