Great Assistantship

Pros

Flexible hours, easy work, able to study and work on coursework, great coworkers. Switched to all online work when pandemic hit.

Cons

Sometimes late hours, but even so we tended to trade off pretty evenly. A fellow grad student is selected for the "manager" position your second year which can be awkward if it's someone you also have classes with.

Pros

This job was a graduate assistantship that I had while completing my master's degree. The schedule was flexible and I worked with people from my cohort, which meant that we spent a lot of time talking, joking, and having a good time. There was a lot of down time where I was able to work on my graduate school work, which helped a lot with balancing all of my responsibilities as a graduate student. The main responsibilities of the job are to answer the phone and help users of CFNC.org. During COVID-19 pandemic, organization sent us laptops so that we could work from home which allowed us to continue receiving our stipends.

Cons

Pay is low, but not abysmal by GA standards, and is paid out only once per month.
