Pros

• Stable manufacturing company, nothing changes. • If you're a white male you'll go far at this company. • Good place to coast until retirement. • Free leftover food at least once a week. • Convenient location in the suburbs. • If you are in good with management you can be incompetent at your job. • Quarterly bonuses in addition to base salary, if goals are met. • Privately held company, not beholden to stockholders, just the family's wishes. • Management is willing to burn the place down to get what they want!

Cons

• Women, minorities, the glass ceiling is low, know your place. • Very high turnover, though they won't admit it. • A lot of jobs being turned over to consultants and off-shore outsourcing. • Innovative thinkers need not apply, just maintain the status quo. • The politics are like being in high-school all over again, very bad for morale. • "Core values" only apply to the company's benefit, not yours. • Legacy employees run the show, don't cross them or they will make your life miserable. • Unless you start at the very bottom there is no room for advancement. • Constant political battle with subsidiaries and corporate, hard to tell who is running the business at times. • Very bad work-life balance. Always seems to be some after-hours fire to put out.

Pros

Great pay for a having a high school diploma or GED, decent benefits (cheap medical coverage), teamwork-focused. I made nearly $20/hr when I was hired on, and overtime is plentiful during the Summer. Skills to be acquired include teamwork/group collaboration in order to solve problems, as well as equipment operation. Continuous Improvement (CI) works to have issues fixed as soon as possible. I was surprised by how quickly they resolve problems with the work environment.

Cons

Hard manual labor, fast-paced, and dangerous if you're not fully aware of what you're doing. Health concerns may arise from working with and being exposed to certain chemicals. You're discouraged from reporting work-related injuries by the gain sharing program (which rewards employees with a quarterly bonus check, affected by factors such as the facility's overall performance and number of recordable injuries/incidents). I understand that safety is incentivized, but there shouldn't be a peer pressure to keep quiet and not resort to worker's compensation in the event of an injury. Contingent employees should not affect the gain sharing payout. If you're not even eligible to receive a check. If you're an irresponsible person, you should be fired because you weren't fit for the job. The policy shouldn't drag everybody else down with you.

Pros

They were a great place to work for. They are still good, but have really started to move away from their core mission as stated on their website of teamwork being the #1 priority.

Cons

Very campy, if you get on the wrong persons naughty list, you are done moving up.
