Pros

If you are okay with going from door to door and talking to people about switching from PG&E to Commerce Energy, this job might be for you.

Cons

When I was hired, I thought I'll be working in the office, as a receptionist, or something else, but I was deceived. They took me on the "field", which was a ghetto neighborhood, and told me to watch how their employees make people switch from commerce energy to pg&e. They told me that I would get paid for this training, but they never did.

Pros

Totally commission based, when you make sale to a high commodity volume residence or business, a independent contractor can receive great money.

Cons

Unfortunately, deregulated states are flooded with marketing firms "securing" one's gas and electricity rates. Customer service with this firm is not trustworthy with sale contractors. A contractor is taught techniques that "register" an account with utility company. Sales are rarely made, because resident has heard it all before. If a sale is made, contractor is paid based on the usage of the account. No base pay for hours of door to door "rate protection plans".
