      Pros

Good work-life balance for most folks.

      Pros

      Wallet will feel very healthy.

      Cons

Team management is like gambling; Some have described wholly enjoyable teams, but I apparently got the short end of the stick. Saw my mentor like 3 times in 8 weeks. Buddy doesn’t even work on the same project so he can’t help guide me with my tasks. Heck, even had a task narrowed to me by someone who didn’t even hand over. All I got was a WhatsApp message where he said “anything, look for X”. Onboarding = here, have the code base - good luck! You’re a new hire without any knowledge of the technical terms and objectives of the project? No worries, JUST DO ONLY!! Can one! Working on saturdays was also dropped on me on my first day at work due to “COVID measures”. (Btw it’s all on paper. They go back on off days anyway) Speaking of Saturdays. My team LOVES working on saturdays. They will scorn at those who shake the status quo of working on saturdays. Standard fare of toxicity; “Walao I can work Saturday why you cannot.” “Ownself not happy don’t ruin it for others la.” If you hate your work life balance, I guess this is a pro and not a con. There’s also no pantry. No dish washing liquid (at my older building). Have to clear your own dustbin because of security protocols.

Looks good on the outside, rotten on the inside

      Pros

Flexible staggered working hours and work life balance Work culture used to be inclusive and close knit but in recent years, transformed into toxic and superficial culture with a lot of office politics and back stabbing

      Cons

With an attrition rate of ard 20%, there is no guessing that there's something wrong with this company. More bosses than genuine leaders. Flawed performance management process who favour superficial staff. Typical inner circle, outer circle style of management that relies on GuanXi. Unless you are already acquainted to a management staff in the company who protects you, you belong to the outer circle who must be prepared to work with little recognition.

      Covid arrangement

      Pros

Stable job. Good bosses can bring you a long way.

      Cons

Limited work life balance. The 6 day work week implemented during COVID was a good example and persists till today, though some divsion has removed it(same pay for all division, yes). However, the official stance now is that sat is an official working day since end of CB, which limited time with family during wkends for those involved. It seems the company still values a lot of face time and do not trust u to do any wfh. Very traditional mindset at the senior management level to require your presence and micro-manage you, in a bid to maximize ur time at work from their POV. Even though cohorting was implemented, different division comes back at different days which can effectively cross interact people from different division. Senior management should review the 6 day work week official arragements if they want to portray themselves as a company with work-life balance (short term for project can be understood, but it has been going on for many months now with no end in sight), and align the whole company for effective cohorting, otherwise there is no point for cohorting. Might as well operate 100% mon to fri instead. Directions needs to be clear.
