Benefits are fantastic, leadership is not

Pros

• Some of the best benefits you'll find out there • Most people are easy to work with, very talented, and driven

Cons

• Leadership is a joke. There isn't process, training, or career growth; you're on your own • You'll be laid off randomly because the hiring strategy is non-existent • There isn't product direction, there isn't product research, there isn't product strategy, only features on top of features • Equity is super diluted at this point, and there's little to no chance of going public, being acquired, or even become profitable

Pros

I was able to work with some great folks (some of whom I'd worked with at other companies) and the technology is cutting edge.

Cons

The first red flag was that they laid people off just two weeks after I started there. That should have told me to start looking for a new job, but I convinced myself that that was how things worked at a startup. Well, I had to tell myself that three more times until it finally happened to me. I worked there for a total of eight months before I WAS LAID OFF BY E-MAIL. Five layoffs in eight months. The last was ~25% of the remaining workforce. And, each time there was a layoff we got the same story from our CEO - this will give us runway for the next 36 months and this is all on me. Some one, please, explain to me how a person who admits five times to the entire company that he screwed up is still employed and still the CEO?? Anyway, you live and you learn. If I do go to another startup, I'll make sure to do a bit more research and make certain that the CEO isn't some inexperienced millenial with lofty ideals and no clue how to implement them.

Incompetent CEO

Pros

The people that work(ed) at Density are/were great.

Cons

The CEO's lack of work experience and absence of the necessary skills to effectively manage the company have significantly hindered all aspects of the business. The CEO's reluctance to listen to and incorporate feedback from experienced and knowledgeable team members has created significant challenges for the company. This has resulted in poor decision-making, a lack of strategic direction, and an inability to inspire confidence among employees, customers and investors. The CEO's recent decision to go from a remote company to an in person company, actually stems from a series of poor business choices. Yet the blame has consistently been placed on others rather than taking responsibility. This deflection not only fails to address the root causes of the issues but also damages trust and morale within the organization.
