Disco operates like a market

Pros

Even though you will be in a department, you will be developing your own identity, and own brand, the moment you enter the company. There is an internal credit system on each individual. Like a market or an ecosystem within, you set up your own stall, sell the goods that the department determines you to sell, and determine your own price which you charge OR pay to other departments for your service/goods. All these credits trading system ultimately becomes part of your bonus, hence their importance. This is not like a normal company. Working in disco is largely dependent on bonus, which is determined by the company's earning. Hence, every individual's effort and impact to the company will be transparent to everyone. Perform well and your stall become very popular & vice versa; you will be highly sought after, and your phone never stop ringing with customer requests. With more work, you earn more internal credits, so to speak. On top of that, there is also other internal activities. Most are meant to help you and the company grow & and be come a stronger organization overall. this is a very good place if you stay long and willing to take all the beatings. Your name comes with your number of years.

Cons

-Bad basic pay. You WILL be lowballed no matter how good your credentials are. Hence, bonus is important. -Like mentioned above, disco works like a market; Veterans and seniors are more likely to do the work themselves rather than sharing the knowledge with others. As a results, new guys will have difficulty learning the rope. -Unfair treatment to some. Every thing is about developing relationship skills. -The culture is not looking for superstars. They place high emphasis on people who develop relationship with others via whatever means. If you come in and excel too early, very likely will be envied by some. -the engineers here are highly inflated title, except for expats (headquarters will only hire good quality engineers). Most do not know much about engineering technicalities but depend on experience acquired overtime.

Pros

With huge emphasis on corporate activities and welfare such as company trips, employees are bonded and tight knitted. Superiors are understanding and humane. Opportunities to travel for business trips. Slightly lower but fair salary package with high bonus scheme.

Cons

Japanese culture of rules, systems and timings. Indirect discrimination where Japanese are given more respect, weight and opportunities. Corporate activities reduce time spent on core business but increases internal company activities like presentations, proposals, exposure to other jobs.
