Pros

-work on global brands -put droga5 on your résumé -most people are friendly -some of the big parties are fun -sometimes there are good speakers, performances, photo galleries, happy hours -there are still a few amazing creative directors and other senior leadership worth working under -they value your opinion (specifically on projects)

Cons

-they make you work to the bone so the company can keep making a lot of money (which you never see because they underpay you) -they've become very corporate but try to mask it with "fun" events -they're way too big now. everyone is mostly a stranger. -there's no sympathy for the people who work so hard. you can work nights and weekends for 6+ months straight on an intense project and they'll still put you on a pitch right after. -there's little understanding of what each creative is actually good at. rarely do they pair creatives with a brand that shares similar taste. for example: a baseball fanatic may never get to work on a sports brand. -there's no safe space to share valid concerns. as soon as you bring up a problem you're fired or punished in a passive-aggressive way. the tone here is: no one should complain. they should feel lucky to be working here.

Mean Girls Sweat Shop.

Pros

Exciting and inspiring to work with the most brilliant minds in the industry.

Cons

High school / Mean Girls mentality - people talking behind others' backs. Passive Aggressiveness. If you're not considered "cool" by the main clique, you're ostracized and set up to fail. Nobody has your back and if you screw up, it's all on you not your management who gives you no info or instruction. So much ego. Insane hours for little pay.

Pros

Met some amazing people. Very bright mid and junior level staff. D5 reputation and name looks good on resume.

Cons

I don’t think the agency itself is bad. It’s just not going to be a fit for everyone and that’s ok. My experience had me with triple booked meetings each day, no work life balance, and difficulty making thoughtful work with turnarounds of 1 day. It’s easy to get lost in big agency politics: stress of managing up and meeting demands of absurd timelines makes it difficult to take care of yourself and the creatives that work under you. Huge PM department but they don’t coordinate with one another to ensure manageable workloads. “Always on” mentality makes it near impossible to protect nights and weekends. I mostly worked 12 hour days during the pandemic and most weekends. Very corporate feeling due to Accenture acquisition. Feels like you can’t be genuinely upfront with management about issues without it backfiring.
