      Great place to work

      Pros

Overall, an engaging, well-rounded job. Excellent place to advance career after receiving licensing elsewhere. Pay is excellent.

      Cons

Back office woes. Accountability falls on client facing individuals (me) despite sometimes incredible incompetency internally. Queue times for customer service can become absurd, which swamps consultants with meaningless tasks that do not bring in business.

Good culture, too focused on referrals

      Pros

Employees were all great to work with and the training is the best I’ve ever had with any company. Studying for the licensing exams was long but the company made it easy to learn everything. They really help you learn your roles and there is always help from supervisors if needed.

      Cons

Managers care so much about getting referrals sent to the consultants regardless of if the referrals were any good. It seemed like that was the primary focused and your job depended on it.

Soon to be a referral consultant

      Pros

Become a referral machine or an asset gatherer and make a very good wage. Very little use of licenses required because compensation structure is focused / aligned toward previous point. Focus on E*TRADE's goals and you'll do well financially. Morgan Stanley has great benefits.

      Cons

Morgan Stanley has placed a lot of focus on Morgan Stanley financial advisors to current E*TRADE clients. All marketing campaigns advertise MS FAs to E*TRADE clients, however E*TRADE FCs were never advertised to clients before or after the acquisition. E*TRADE FCs are now compensated to be referral machines. The writing is on the wall when the generous NNA comp grid is reduced. The writing is really on the wall when the segmentation starts. It has started in a hybrid manner... No path forward for FCs has ever been announced.

      Prepare to be Strung Along

      Pros

Friendly and well rounded trainers for series licensing.

      Cons

You will be coated with reasons and “benefits” to be in the position as you’re on boarding the position. Make sure you look deep into what you’re getting into. Total miscommunication with pay raises as licensing is passed. True job description should be plain and simple - a call center with non flexible shifts. If you want to work strict hourly shifts taking inbound calls then this is for you. But if you want to feel like you have some sort of freedom and say within your role then I advise to find something else. Especially if you hold a bachelors in any business related field such as finance or economics. No room for movement within the role as well. Pay is below par for the amount of stressful call center duty that you get into. They literally tell you that it’s okay to take a few minutes after a call to walk away from your computer and “scream” if you handle a few bad calls. So I guess if you’re up for the challenge to be soaked into such a job then this is for you! If not, then I say get your licensing and find somewhere else.

      Not as advertised

      Pros

Relaxed environment. Fully paid training and licensing process. Friendly coworkers.

      Cons

Was recruited as a finance job but is almost completely customer service. Most of the job entails helping old people reset their password. I only found out after completing licensing and training that the role that I agreed to would take years of work to get to that point.
