Pros

The Residents and their families Most of the resident assistants Benefits Budget was healthy

Cons

From the moment I was hired on things just didn’t add up. I was hired as a director. My orientation days were not set up, my finger prints were not paid for, my paperwork wasn’t prepared. I was hired at 32 hours while the old director was at 40. The old director wanted to keep a foot in the department. I had 2 supervisors who had different opinions and I didn’t know who to follow. I had a horrible assistant who would spread rumors, not follow protocol, would treat residents as children and the old director said she was bad and should have left along time ago. That assistant began harassing me and spreading terrible rumors. I went to HR because the two directors would not let me put her on a PIP. HR told me that I should only have one supervisor and the old director should not keep a foot in my department. I kept asking for my review, which they kept canceling. I kept asking if I could make any changes or improve, but there were no suggestions. Communication was poor. I tried to work through the harassment and I did everything thing that was suggested and then some. The old director began badgering me until I could take it no longer. I was told after 8 months, I didn’t try hard enough. Keep in mind that the old director was talking about the assistant needing to leave before I started. I gave notice. HR told me that if I left, the assistant would harass the new person. HR then turned on me and the staff was ugly. I left before my 2 weeks because of the constant badgering and harassment. The old director was then promoted even though they was behind the entire situation of bullying and harassment. Another case of punishing the Target and promoting the Bully. I have never lost a job or had anything negative ever written about me. I kept asking for help. I wanted to do my job and do it well. If I hadn’t done it well, then they would have let me know at my 90 day review, but they never did one. I asked all along my 8 months how I could improve. There was nothing, but minor suggestions, which I took care of. It’s not a case of disgruntled employee. I loved my job. I never wanted to leave. The harassment bordered on defamation of character according to our lawyer, but Ebenezer didn’t care.

Pros

Great benefits Wonderful residents/clients Employees are passionate about what they do

Cons

At the site I was employed, there was a LOT of disorganization. I can't speak for all sites, because there are many of them. However, the disorganization was definitely affecting patient care by the time I left. Management was not decisive enough, and did not have a strong authoritative presence. This caused people to slack off and cross boundaries without much repercussion .
