Beyond hopeless - toxicity, favouritism and extreme bureaucracy

Pros

Marketing has done a great job in painting a glossy picture of this company. Employee enablement is really strong, probably the best I have seen in industry. Idea behind the company is a good one, just that it couldn’t execute.

Cons

Eightfold is the benchmark for toxic culture. People work for 24x7 in this company and are still questioned for their sincerity and competence. You are expected to be always on. Senior leaders will send 7am meeting invite and you are expected to be on otherwise you are labelled as incompetent. Oh my god, I have not seen a company worse than eightfold in my 20+ years of working life. Extreme favouritism culture. Friends from past companies prosper. Not a single person has succeeded in this company who hasn’t had any past relation. They either leave or get sidelined. Morale is low across the company and most people are looking for a job elsewhere. This company does not trust and respect people. If you have any self-esteem as a person, never ever join Eightfold. The senior management is so arrogant that you will be ridiculed and abused to your core. You will regret joining this company every day. Please stay away from this company if you can. You will live a more peaceful and mentally healthy life by flipping burger at In & Out vs. working at eightfold. Yeah, it is that bad!

A Lost Cause

Pros

- Good mission - Strong marketing team that built a good brand - Early player in trying AI in HR - Swanky office especially after last round of funding. Lot of money spent to look cool and fancy

Cons

- Horrendous Management that has no vision, no strategy, no plan, no alignment, complete chaos and they backstab each other publicly. Socking for junior employees to see an executive cursing another executive openly. . - Product is still evolving so humongous pressure on the post-sales teams to deliver and they are beaten up left, right and center by customers as well as executives. Post-sales teams are labelled as incompetent. - Extremely toxic culture where if you are a Yes-man, you thrive, if you are not a Yes-man, you are shown the door. Top management expects you to respect them (!!) and follow their command. Weekend work is glorified and celebrated. People are even afraid of taking vacations. - Extremely biased decision making. People with certain pedigree are respected and promoted. If you are not from that pedigree, you will work 5x harder to get 1/5th recognition - Very high talent attrition (beyond layoffs). Some of the absolute best people have left that exhibits the fundamental weakness in this company. Happy for them and sorry for everyone who is stuck here.

STAY AWAY FROM EF!

Pros

Good benefits - very low deductible medical insurance, unlimited PTO (if you are lucky enough to have a good manager), free lunch (up to $16/meal)

Cons

No respect, recognition or appreciation from senior leaders - The senior management is so arrogant and they need to use every chance they can find to public shame their employees and make them feel worthless. Employees do not get any recognition for appreciation, instead they will be badly blamed if they are not doing everything 100% perfect under impossible timelines. No work life balance - It just doesn’t exist at EF. People are expected to work from 7am to 11pm everyday, no matter if you have a life or not. Otherwise, you could be public shamed by senior leaders. No care for its employees, only care about how many clients they’re signing - They don’t care how burned out their employees are to please the clients. I’m sure the senior leaders are aware people are burned out and morale is extremely low. They just pretend they don’t know so that they don’t need to do anything about it. No transparency or visibility - You would think for a 600 people company, it shouldn’t be too hard to make announcements company wide. EF is the perfect example to show how chaotic a company could be. Senior leaders don’t care if the employees are left in the dark or not, or if there’s a long term strategy or not. Each team (even each individual employee) works in its own world and has no visibility what’s happening outside of them.
