The department I worked in was a real boys' club. Women were paid less than men regardless of experience, education, and seniority. When I insisted in being paid fairly, they very reluctantly matched my pay to the men's but threatened to fire me if I told the other women. They had rules that didn't apply to the men but wouldn't hesitate to fire or write up women for breaking said rules.
Blatant fraud was being committed and the managers looked the other way because the stats made them look good. The people committing the fraud were applauded as high performers and everyone was expected to keep up with that level of performance.
The cubicles are small and poorly divided which is how it was so easy to see people committing fraud (for example, asking a customer if they want something and then adding it to their order when they say no). The software they use is from 20 years ago and is absolutely horrible. Imagine taking someone's huge order and then asking them to repeat the entire thing because the software crashed yet again. From a business standpoint, cheap software is actually very expensive due to all the time it wastes.
Some of the managers were incredibly unprofessional, rude, and inept. A few were good but had their hands tied by pressure from leadership and a toxic work culture.
About every 6 months they would "restructure" our commission which meant they were going to pay us less. I can't imagine how little they're paying people now. The markup on their products is 300-1000% so there's no excuse for low wages.
