Pros
-Free breakfast in the morning -Great fitness benefits, like vouchers, free classes, sports etc -Depending where you are based, great facilities, showers, coffee, meeting rooms etc -Colleagues are nice, most directors are down to earth -If you are certain of your career path, there is genuine investment in it, (but not a huge amount of mentoring).
Cons
-Extremely Hierarchical, (if you're not in the land team, you are thought of as less than). -Everyone is at the behest and whimsical decisions of the chairman. People are afraid to challenge sometimes ridiculous initiatives. -Complete lack of diversity to the point where it is uncomfortable (culturally) -Wastes so much money on mistakes that could have been avoided -Long hours with little flexibility (leave 5 mins early and this is frowned upon) -Procedures are not consistent -It takes months to receive any IT equipment, so how can we work from home/on site etc -People are promoted based on how likable they are. And often promoted to manager with no real training plan on how to manage people -There is a HUGE disconnect with the subsidiaries (St George, St Edward, St Joseph etc), and Berkeley Group. Everyone is scared of the Group.
