Toxic Dumpster Fire Kept Aflame by arrogant, delusional jam-band jabronies - CSM Discogs Employee Review

Pros

nothing promised as a incentive was genuinely delivered (other than free beverages), so, can't think of any pros, UNLESS you're into working in a toxic environment, under leadership that enjoys wielding power and relishes making staff feel as if they could be canned without cause at any moment. If that sounds like a hoot, then by all means, join the party

Cons

I concur with all the negative reviews and add this - they definitely illustrate the results of the recent survey regarding diversity in tech. MEANING - they talk about valuing diversity, but actually breed an environment that makes minorities and women feel unwelcome. Also, within weeks of starting with the company I began to wonder what their endgame was, because none of their decisions seemed to make any sense for a company that wanted longevity. By the end of my employment I began to suspect that they were simply building it up to sell? Yet, they haven't sold it yet. SO, I can only conclude that they are delusional at this point.

Pros

Some talented and passionate coworkers who truly care about music and the community. The mission of Discogs is great. the platform itself has the potential to be a fantastic resource for collectors and sellers as a database and marketplace for many more years with the right attention and goals. Decent work-life balance (depending on your team). Remote-friendly work environment.

Cons

Extremely poor leadership and lack of transparency. Decision-making feels erratic, and leadership does not provide clear or consistent direction. Toxic workplace culture. Employees are afraid to voice concerns due to retaliation or being seen as a problem to leadership. No career growth. There is no real investment in employees, and feedback loops are nonexistent. Horrible handling of terminations. I was let go abruptly with no prior warnings, performance discussions, or opportunity to respond. Dishonest communication. The company email about my departure was misleading, making it seem like I voluntarily left. (This is routine way they communicate to the company when employees are let go or fired or differences.) Compensation is below industry averages. Salaries are not competitive for the level of work expected, and there is little room for meaningful raises or promotions.
