Pros
I adored my job: I was surrounded by motivated, interesting people, usually experts in their field. I got to travel and be paid to eat and drink (among other things, of course), the job was never dull. The vast majority of my colleagues, across different departments, were respectful, intelligent and motivated. The salary was good at the time and there were perks.
Cons
My direct manager was unpredictable - and unfortunately, they are at a high level in the company, so there's no way you won't run into them at some point. One day they'd be in a great mood, the next day they'd claim that what you talked about and there's actual proof of via email, didn't happen. "I don't remember saying that", they'd go. "Here's proof - see your own email from a week ago", I'd respond. "Oh, well, things have changed." I didn't care for this one bit. I also, frankly, ignored it. I had the respect of the company and even the boss, so most of the time they'd leave me to pursue my goals and do my thing. But it's toxic behaviour and a few people at least have left because of that person. Me - I left for personal, and completely unrelated reasons.
