Pros

A light dress code that allowed us to wear company PJ’s to work (staff loved it, and the customers loved it too) There was an inclusive and diverse staff, my coworkers were friendly, engaging, and supportive. Laid working back environment and the ability to self-determine task-order helped create an environment where I could do things in the way that worked best for my skills.

Cons

I was made to work unpaid overtime on a regular basis while on a full-time schedule as a teenager. When I requested a change in paid hours to accommodate the excess workload, it was outright refused. I was working 9-11 hour shift and getting paid for 8 hours. Almost always late at night too, on solo-closing shifts. Super understaffed. We barely got to take breaks. If we were lucky enough to have two people working, one person could go grab lunch then swap. But typically we worked alone, so we were instructed to close the store doors for 5 minutes to get our food, then eat under the counter while we continued working. Our manager was almost never present in store. When she was, she was unprofessional. One time, she had me walk her dog on my shift. Our assistant manager worked more often than our manager did.
