Pros

The leadership team and individuals are making great progress towards being a shelter that aligns with industry standard guidelines. Every single person who works here does a great job of caring for homeless animals. Working here makes me proud because the animals best interest is always at the forefront of what we do.

Cons

Every job has areas that could be improved. All Employees trying to understand the why behind decisions being made goes a long way.

Pros

Working with the animals is great. The team is close

Cons

This location has a great team that always goes above and beyond for the animals. Management, however, has a tendency to allow others to create a negative work environment by allowing others to be less accountable for work ethic, behavior, attitude, etc. This location is told regularly to follow the Reno’s locations rules and guidelines, even though the Carson City location does more jobs such as animal control, dispatch, and caring for all animals in the building. Not just assigned staffing areas. The organization has quarterly meetings that would be very informative if they weren’t only Reno based. These meetings consist of praise to Reno as well as all the things Reno does, but very rarely acknowledges all the hard work that the Carson City location does. When the Carson team goes to these meetings, they always leave feeling left out, ignored, and not important. Really hurting the moral between the locations. When this is brought up to management, they do not allow Carson team to raise grievances when they have chances to do so. People that have been working here for years are getting paid the same as new hires. We were promised raises by the CEO, yet they never came, or when asked about raises with evaluations, the evaluations get postponed. The CEO enjoys spending money at the Reno shelter while the Carson shelter falls apart. Reno received a new play yard while Carson got their old equipment. There are fun activities scheduled for Reno location, which are unreasonable for Carson team to attend. Unfortunately, the team in Carson often feels left out and not as important to the organization as a whole.
