I ended up retiring earlier than I wanted because I couldn't deal with the nonsense any longer. 1. My offer letter included a "KPI-based Bonus" of $25K but my manager “forgot” and never assigned me any KPIs and when I started asking around about when I should be getting my bonus, there was a lot finger-pointing, hemming and hawing, and a general lack of response. THEN (two months later), the company stopped all bonuses, promotions, and raises. So if you get an offer from them, be very careful about pinning them down on any non-salary compensation items. 2. My manager, somehow convinced that I was incapable of doing a job I had been doing successfully for 15 years, tried transferring me to another department with a position down-grade. I guess that was easier for him than trying to either deal with or fire me. 3. After quitting, I had zero follow-up with HR except for “Return your computer here”. No de-brief, no discussions with my management team, not even a discussion about COBRA, which I thought was required by law. My impression is that no one there actually cared either about my opinions or that I left. 4. This is a private company, so no equity (at least not at my level - and I was fairly senior!)
