Pros
You get to - Apply all the skills and processes that you learn in school in real client projects; - Sit in at client meetings to observe and contribute; - Try your hands at a wide range of product categories and design work to discover where your passions lie, or don't lie; - Enjoy on-demand one-to-one advanced tutorials with a Solidworks master; - Enjoy on-demand one-to-one advanced tutorials with a Illustrator/Keyshot rendering master; - Use a Wacom Cintiq; - Be the daily DJ if you're so inclined to; - Go home on time everyday; - Work in a respectful environment where everyone take pride in their work and give only constructive feedback; - Pick from a great variety of high quality lunch options around the office; - Enjoy good coffee and tea throughout the day; - Pick the brains of Stuart - a long-time industrial design veteran, entrepreneur and nurturing mentor; - See your design get produced! (I was very very lucky...) I loved the experience so much that I stayed another 3 months after the initial summer internship.
Cons
- Probably not a place for students who has no interest in kitchen/house wares. - Small, intimate studio, so it may not be for someone who wants the corporate experience - No digital fabrication machines (it made sense to outsource for the amount of digital prototyping work that is being done vs effort and cost to maintain the machines at the time)
