Pros
Nice office, although everyone is crammed into one corner of it now. GHG emissions monitoring can lead to real reduction in emissions with a positive impact on climate change and Canary's products and services (the ones they are focusing on) continue to improve, albeit slower than advertised. You can feel good about what you are working on! My team was great, as were many others on different teams, but many have left or were laid off.
Cons
There were 3 layoffs from the spring of 2023 to the summer of 2024 impacting over half the company. The company is essentially run on the whim of a few individuals who think they are smarter than everyone else and have little to no accountability. Horrible communication from leadership. Decisions are made with no input from technical experts or those who would be affected, and with no analysis of how they might impact the clients. If you are not in the "in crowd" or "boys club" there is little regard for your opinion or analysis regarding decisions. There was a tremendous amount of passive agressiveness related to the most appreciated policies - in office time and unlimited PTO. Inconsistent treatment and compensation of employees depending on what team you are on or if you are in the club. The company is still run like it only has 25 employees and there is little appetite from leadership to change that approach. There isn't a true people oriented leader in the building. There were a few great leaders prior to the layoffs or them leaving for better opportunities, but they were rarely listened to/had little influence on the C-suite. Given the 3 layoffs, clearly the current approach is not working.
