Pros

Working with the cats is great, and they're given very good quality of care.

Cons

The supervisor is downright mean. You won't get any positive reinforcement, only criticism when you fail to meet the ridiculously difficult standards (most of which aren't communicated to you until you're being scolded for not meeting them). I was stressed out and miserable the whole time I worked there, I do not recommend. It's been a while since I worked there but the same supervisor is still there, and from what I've heard the work culture hasn't gotten any better. Oh, and the supervisor is just as terrible to the volunteers, treats them like the inconvenient help they'd rather not have to deal with, rather than a gift to the organization.

Pros

Everything is first and foremost about the cats and saving lives. You have a sense of pride knowing that you are making a real difference . They rescue and get adopted more cats in this tiny space than most larger shelters.

Cons

The rescue is an extremely busy small space with a small staff, so people need to be able to handle that while managing high pressure and adapting easily to change in order to succeed there. This is a con for some, but not for those who thrive in fast paced and changing environments.

Pros

Working with cats who receive great care, other (non-supervisor) employees are easy to work with, volunteers are passionate about the organization, quickly growing to meet need = lots of impact on the path of the organization.

Cons

Supervisor was very difficult to work for. She has driven away many employees - both with her personal communication style and attitude towards how to manage people. Though I am sure she means well, she micromanages and undermines all employees. Additionally, this organization offers absolutely no benefits at all - not even sick time. Deeply unequitable, and completely unconcerned about it.
