Pros

- great for those who want to become a teacher - consultants are wonderful and assist you with finding a placement close to you and also getting you admitted to your credentialing school and program - learned a lot in monthly pd days

Cons

- can't say no to any placement they give you - don't pay for half days. have to take all or nothing - some other fellows just don't want to be there or even become a teacher so making friends is hard - also super competitive if another fellow is in your area. competing for positions in the same district

Pros

Getting classroom experience, consultants guide you and give you training. They help you obtain your teaching credential, and you get full time hours and pay if you are part of the TeachStart program. I feel very fortunate to have had this opportunity.

Cons

The company honestly does not have any cons. There were a couple of times when I was placed in schools that did not support subs at all, and that was on the school admin, not TeachStart. The TeachStart consultants heard me out and placed me at different sites. They do listen to you. Kids are tough with subs so be prepared to set up boundaries and don’t back down on them. If a school’s admin does not support you in maintaining classroom management, report it to your TeachStart consultant. TeachStart has been helpful throughout the whole school year.

Pros

You will technically get experience in a classroom

Cons

Horrible communication Mediocre pay Training is less than useless Almost no sick leave (and you'll be threatened with termination when you do get sick) Company will gladly throw you under a bus if a client complains Your preferences and complaints will be ignored You'll be lucky if your assignment has the school name and start time correct. Don't expect any other info to be accurate
