Admission Counselor - Admissions Counselor Texas Tech University Employee Review

Pros

Autonomous work, company car. The role itself is great - helping HS seniors with apps, attending fun events, assisting with camps, etc.

Cons

A lot of weekend and night events, with no overtime pay. You're locked down for camp events in Lubbock all summer. If you take PTO during that time, it's frowned upon. Micromanagement. A lot of gossip and cliques among coworkers and management. High turnover in every region. Career growth would be slow if any at all. Micromanagement.

Pros

Currently, there are no pros to working at Tech.

Cons

All of our course content must be approved by the new chancellor and the board of regents, who have admitted to using AI to review the titles of readings related to sex, gender, sexuality, and race. Professors across the university are impacted negatively. If you are a science instructor, particularly in biological sciences, you cannot teach scientific facts. Moving forward, graduate students will no longer be able to research topics covering sex, gender, and sexuality.
