WCIRB Response
9yI am not one to normally post information on social media sights like this one, however, I fully support everyone’s right to have their say in whatever way they choose to do so. And, while we each are free to express our opinion about things, it is important to know the facts when assertions are made that are not accurate.
So allow me to set the record straight on the facts of this specific posting:
1) The WCIRB – The Workers’ Compensation Rating Bureau of California is fortunate to have a great blend of new staff and tenured staff, all working together to fulfill the mission of this more than 100 year ‘young’ company that is integral to a healthy workers’ compensation system.
There has been no “mass exodus” of long time staff – with a current staff of 191, the WCIRB has celebrated 6 retirements this year. Our 2016 retirees averaged over 27 years of great service to our company and we salute their dedication and commitment, as well as the best of enjoyment in their golden years.
2) With regard to turnover, other than the above retirements, our turnover rate in 2016 is 5%. We certainly don’t want to lose any of our talent, but in a competitive world, we all are able to make life and career choices. Again, on balance, our turnover can hardly be considered as bad as this writer has claimed.
3) On the budget, the WCIRB has no “$500,000 budget hole”. Our mid-year forecasting for the entire year indicated to us that we needed to tighten up certain spend categories in order to assure our budget for the full year. As in any business, it is important to be resilient to needs that arise during the year and adjust accordingly – that is smart management and our broad leadership team down to the department level continues to do so.
4) Lastly, to the assertion that there “is an effort to recruit employees to post only positive reviews…” that is just not true. Our staff members are free to state their views, if they choose to do so, and I most certainly welcome their views directly with me.
If anyone has other questions about the WCIRB, our Mission, our culture or the opportunities to join us, please feel free to reach out to me directly, Bill Mudge, CEO, at bmudge@wcirb.com.
