There are aspects of the lay-offs that was handled poorly and showed evidence of weak leadership, who can learn to show more empathy. I acknowledge that they offered a good severance to employees, but it is quite surprising that no one in leadership (at least none that I am aware of) said anything publicly about the lay-off or soliciting support from their network to help people get jobs. Instead, the priority is announcing new funding and trying to protect your image.
This is a rough economic climate and you can at least show people support asides from a severance. Lay-offs can be tough and it takes people time to process the impact....that is when leadership can/should step up to show more support, it goes a long way, especially for a company that talks about social impact or being employee driven.
