Pros

The First Finish staff, i.e. those who do not collect the large salaries. The people who put in all the hard work and are hardly recognized for it. The support staff who cleans up messes day after day without any gratitude or reward. The shirts that the staff are provided with are nice.

Cons

First Finish is a company you work for if you want to put in long hours, weekends, and evenings on a non-competitive salary. Work life balance is nonexistent to the point there is a joke about the number of divorces. The bonus structure is non-existent. Bonuses are given, however it is more of a popularity contest than anything structured. The diversity in upper management at First Finish is almost non-existent, need proof? Look at the website. Female Project Managers are incredibly rare. Room for growth is promoted in interviews, however not a reality. Travel is required, and that includes last minute orders to drop everything and get on a plane, most times for things that could be worked out with a phone call. There isn’t training or a training program for new hires. Most new hires that come in are left with a current employee who tries to teach them their new job, while juggling their own job. Vacation time is given, however many times employees are asked to give time back/cut vacations short/end up working on vacation (again no work life balance). Please also note the positive reviews for this company mainly come from current employees when making your decision about applying.

Pros

Many of the companies we contracted out to were amazing to work with. Some of the senior management seemed down to earth, reasonable. Great learning experience. I do recommend this for any young, single person wanting to get great experience and will accept little pay.

Cons

One the company website they state that their motto is, “Our people are our most valuable assets”. I never once felt that way after I signed the offer letter. They value results, which any company does, but at the expense of their employees lives, work/life balance and sanity. Work hours were 60-90hrs/wk. Being a family man, I struggled with this and upon stressing my concerns was once told - wife at home, mistress on the road. I think I knew then I wouldn't last long. Pay was horrible for the hourly commitment per week. Many of the operational tactics for completing a project were outdated at best.

We are thankful that you took the time to provide us with a review. We genuinely care about the feedback we receive, and it is critically important to us as we grow to make sure we do not lose sight of the values that we have been trying to build the company on for almost 20 years. Work/Life balance is a struggle for many organizations and ours is no different. The fact that many of our projects involve out of state travel and require a significant amount of work to be done in a short time frame only adds to the challenges. We would like to let you know that over the past two years we have rolled out a number of training programs, some have been for specific departments and some for all team members, including a recent extensive, three (3)-day workshop in which our entire field staff was present to participate. We also began holding various team building events for specific departments as well as inter-departmentally so that certain team members that never previously had a chance to meet (only corresponding by email) were able to spend time getting to know each other, breaking bread, and developing stronger bonds.

Pros

Nice looking office. Great subcontractors work with them because they pay the subs well. Gourmet company catered lunches. Fully stocked kitchen.

Cons

They provide television screens with zero resolution to study plans. They will demand that you be in the office every weekend while the VP's splurge on strippers around the country trying to win contracts, which they lose anyway. They monitor employees' private home conversations with company cell phones because they are paranoid about employees getting poached for information by property owners and rival construction firms.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience while at First Finish. We are very sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we take all feedback as an opportunity to improve. We are glad that you appreciated the catered lunches and fully-stocked kitchen. We are often faced with circumstances requiring team members to work longer than usual hours. While we try our best to make the working environment (both in the office and in the field) as comfortable as possible, we greatly appreciate the sacrifices made. That being said we do not enter into agreements with clients in which seven (7) day-work weeks are mandated for the field staff, and we limit the necessity to work six (6)-day work weeks for the office staff, to the best of our abilities. While we are constantly upgrading company-owned equipment loaned to staff members (laptops, monitors, tablets, mobile phones, etc.) so that we can operate efficiently with help from the latest technology, with the expectation that the contents developed with/on said technology is the property of the company (as is standard practice), the monitoring of private home conversation is certainly not done, nor is it legal in the United States. We can assure you that we will continue to implement appropriate policies and procedures to ensure we operate as responsibly and fairly as we can.
