Good People, Poor Management
25 May 2023 - Fed Ex Ground Package HandlerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I have a good relationship with my manager and my fellow employees, the pay rate is relatively generous for the job I do, and the job is good exercise (I don't need to go to the gym). Also, the work atmosphere is pretty good, especially compared to other shipping companies.
Cons
There is no incentive to work hard because everyone gets the same base pay, although your pay rate can reach $19.25 if you have worked there long enough. The warehouse relies on part-time workers and a part-time worker has to apply to a full time position on their own. Managers can move workers to different positions within the warehouse, but do not have the time or the resources to help you advance within the company. Also, you can only access your employee account using one of their on-site computers because they have a closed network.

Unethical/Illegal/Incompetent
23 Apr 2023 - Maintenance Technician in Township of HamiltonRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The Pay seems to be on par for similar positions around the state. Some good co workers Work mostly unsupervised to get PM’s and projects complete
Cons
Unfortunately the building has bred some bad managers (some who have been fired) for stealing, unethical business practices, workplace violence, discrimination, sexual harassment, and incompetency. The maintenance manager that’s still there is an inexperienced, uneducated, hostile, sexist and racist nightmare of a person and you will have no choice but to deal with him. HR is not there for you and they won’t help. They are there strictly to make sure the company can’t be held liable for the actions of their managers. Basically, the only way they’d help you os if you had enough evidence against a manager to file a slam dunk lawsuit and win. If not, and you do complain, you will be desolated to the point you want to quit. The maintenance shop has been a revolving door since this manager took his position. I’ve watched 10 people cycle in and out of there in one year. That is unheard of. These aren’t low paying, unskilled labor positions. They’re career positions, so to have that kind of retention rate is laughable. But he’s untouchable and FedEx is terrified to even reprimand him. I’ll let you guess why. STAY AWAY

Pros
Good benefits, insurance was alright. The RVPs and DMs inket were all usually really nice. The problem lies with how senior building management fosters change.
Cons
The company has good leaders, but far and few in between. They operate in bosses discretion so your experience at a building depends on the management. Unrealistic expectations, I had to tools and knowledge for accurate staffing, my management would acknowledge I was correct, and then ask me why I had lane fulls at 50% EP staffing. No one retires or leaves, so moving up is impossible unless your willing to move across the country for under market average pay.

Premier lack of accountability and leadership.
23 May 2023 - ManagerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
401K plan was managed well by Vanguard
Cons
District Leadership, HR, SRM, and P n D Managers do NOT believe in accountability. HR cover up numerous blatant possible lawsuit cases verses addressing the individuals creating the issues. SRM refuses to hold people accountable. Managers are put in position with zero leadership skills, training, given a 4 day class on what is required and some of these manager it is their first jobs or because they have family within FedEx. SRM has no control over the station, cheats metrics to cover up issues at the district level. Advise stay away…

Fedex Ground Cares About Their Employees
19 May 2023 - Package Handler in North Salt Lake, UTRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Paid every week. Outstanding employee appreciation. Fedex pays a handful of employees just to do employee recognition. They give out free Gatorade often and there's a snack cart they would occasionally bring around. They ordered various meals each night for a week and they made sure all employees were included. Supervisors are friendly and make time for each employee. Everyone helps one another and works as a well-organized unit.
Cons
Lots of heavy lifting when Chewy and Purple Mattresses arrive.

Pros
Fellow employees help each other
Cons
Upper Management doesn't care about you They only care about productivity goals They work their employees way too hard Turn over rate is ridiculous The hand held computer equipment is trash, broken and causes a lot of unnecessary stress on Ops managers and package handlers Ops managers can't properly do their job due to not having the equipment they need and this makes for a very stressful work environment for everyone
