Pros
Some exposure to the startup process, but very little and ultimately unimpressive and carries little weight in the valley.
Cons
-Dishonest hiring process. Makes many remarks that it is an elite VC firm but in actuality invests in no name companies and has 0 hot SV startups under its belt. Invests in mostly international firms because it simply cannot compete in Palo Alto. -Anis is the biggest problem in the entire company, and the partners should immediately replace him. His investment approach is limited and without insight. He shuts down good ideas and refuses to follow through on initiatives that will improve the portfolio. Compared to hustlers in the Valley, he has no real ability to source deals and find good ones. He is a mediocre manager with no clear thesis on venture funding other than to woo clueless international startups on the allure of Silicon Valley, of which he plays no significant role in its ecosystem. -This firm was featured in national news (WSJ) for forcing interns to do vast amounts of unpaid work under the guise of "experience", and was investigated by the SEC during a lawsuit. This should be the glaring indication that this firm is on its heels. There are no other VCs in the valley that behave like this. Anyone with any talent in venture investing should apply elsewhere. -The pay packages were mediocre at best and were not as advertised during the interview process.

Great learning experience
26 May 2017 - Associate in San Jose, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
You'll learn about the world of VC, and be given a tremendous amount of responsibility right out of the gate. Fenox actually takes the time to train its employees, while most VCs expect you to know everything already. It's definitely a great starting point if you're interested in a career in VC, and has a great work-life balance. Associates also get some equity, which is not too common.
Cons
The performance evaluation of employees is sometimes skewed and favors certain employees over others based on non work related tasks. If you're looking to only wear 1 hat, you likely won't fit in with all of the different hats you'll be asked to wear.

Micromanagement is an understatement
1 Aug 2018 - Anonymous Employee in San Jose, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Some great coworkers Learn about startups in the area
Cons
Micromanagement is extremely high. You can’t even walk away from a chair without being lectured about pushing it in. They watch everything the employees do and no ones opinion matters except the CEO who has his own minions that he has brainwashed himself. The management makes everyone feel awful by constantly belittling them. I mean, they wasted time on a hierarchical tree to make sure that everyone “knew their place.” Little to no benefits for the employees and awful pay. No way you could live on that salary in the Bay Area! It’s an insult. Horribly boring work. I felt like a slave and my brain was turning to mush because I was not able to use my skills and wasn’t being challenged in any way. All they do is have people make PowerPoints and present. You don’t need a college degree to work here, it’s simple, boring work. Fire the most qualified people for the job because they are intimidated by them.

15 Jun 2016 - Investment Analyst in San Jose, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good job for those, who wants to understand, how do VCs work from the inside. Working hours were very flexible. At this job you really can learn a lot of things about new technologies. Also there is very friendly and skilled staff.
Cons
Sallaries are not pretty satisfactory. Also there are little benefits. Sometimes you have to stay after work.
