Interesting work, poor culture
16 Sept 2021 - Associate (Hong Kong) in Hong KongRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Interesting and sometimes groundbreaking work Good reputation Decent compensation, but by no means the highest in the market
Cons
Poor culture. Associates generally treated like cannon fodder. Very uneven workloads within the team due to poor management. No plans for long-term associate development and retention. Partners seem to be aware of these longstanding issues, but there are minimal improvements thus far. Long working hours, little respect for work-life balance. Medical benefits are relatively poor - default is no coverage for dental or annual health checkup
- Current Employee, more than 3 years★★★★★
Pros
Great benefits, focus on sustainability and responsible business.
Cons
Long working hours. Risk averse culture.
- Former Contractor★★★★★
Pros
Good sense of camaraderie amongst paralegals. Pay is good for a contract agent. The work given to you is very clearly explained.
Cons
No opportunity to progress from paralegal to trainee. Long working hours (common for law firms in London). But you do get paid overtime as a paralegal.
