Pros

As a software engineer you get to work with great tools.

Cons

1) The company was founded by the Catino family with the parents being co-CEOs and two of their sons ending up in the C-Suite. 2) They don’t tell everybody that during the interview process. 3) The COO, Mitch Catino, was promoted to the position within a couple of weeks of getting engaged. 4) Greater than 80% of the positive reviews on this site were given after the CFO, Vince Catino, incentivized employees with a GigSmart company paid happy hour if they received X number of positive reviews by a specific deadline. 5) GigSmart never had that happy hour. 6) GigSmart has many failed relationships with past consultancies, independent contractors and full time employees. 7) GigSmart has a history of badmouthing said people and organizations internally. 8) The entire engineering team has been forced to stay well into the evening to meet deadlines mandated by management. 9) HR, led by the CFO Vince Catino, failed to get paperwork completed for a known deadline for annual enrollment resulting in insurance rates going up for the entire company. 10) GigSmart has terminated full time employees due to no fault of the employee. 11) Multiple full time employees from Product and Engineering have walked out on GigSmart without notice. 12) For over a year the CTO, Jason Waldrip, failed to produce a functioning continuous integration platform resulting in much headache and failure for his team. 13) The record for most CI failures, at the time of my departure, was 180+(it is over a 90 minute process) by one of GigSmart’s consultants resulting in it taking a very long time to merge a simple PR. 14) Prior to launch the founding team was constantly talking themselves up, mentioning all of the family, friends and charities that were ready to use the application. While I don’t know the exact numbers, the founding family clearly did not have any friends, family, or charities that were ready and willing to use the app. While I'm sure there are more facts I could provide this is all that comes to mind at the moment.

Hello, We appreciate you taking the time to share your opinions about working with GigSmart. While we do everything we can to make this a positive work experience for everyone, we understand this is not always possible for a variety of reasons. Here at GigSmart we take pride in the fact that we are a family founded company. We feel that this is a great strength of ours and shows the commitment that our founders and management team have to the success and ongoing improvement of this organization. While most employers experience an increase in benefits rates during their renewal periods, GigSmart partnered with a leading PEO (TriNet) to ensure that our employees have access to a range of top benefits plans at an affordable cost. We currently have plans that cost as low as $0 per month. As a result of this partnership, our benefits costs have decreased. GigSmart is a growing company that is constantly looking for ways to improve. We are excited about the opportunities we are able to provide to new associates as a result of this. We are sorry to hear that you did not have a positive experience while working with our team. We hope you find a better fit in your next role.

Pros

Interesting tech stack that is enough to possibly lure the interest of a new hire. Don't fall for it.

Cons

Management has no idea how to run a company, repeatedly ran off top talent (At least five amazing developers in two months), overworked employees without compensation, unethical. This company will fail miserably.

Pros

- Really nice people. Everyone from upper management to the interns are nice and easy to work with. - Easy product to sell. You are selling an app that is free to download. - Nice and clean office.

Cons

- Inconsistent commission plans. For a salesperson your commission is your livelihood. Every month you get close to hitting your max commission they will bump your numbers up. When I joined they said your on target earnings will be $75k a year. I was a top performer and my OTE was $60k. It is obvious they don't want to pay you commissions. - You will get your monthly commission plan 7-10 days into the month. - They have daily activity numbers for calls and talk time that you are required to hit even to receive commission. You are required to source and upload all your own leads so expect to do that outside of work hours so you can hit your activity numbers. You have to put in the extra hours to be a top performer but here it won't benefit your bank account. - They make everyone's numbers different based on past performance. So if you have higher numbers your numbers will be higher but the commission $ will be the same for everyone. - Bottom line is you won't make a good living as a salesperson at this company.
