      Pros

      Good system, guidance notes and procedures are in place, when in doubt can refer to them. Work with smart people.

      Cons

      Micromanagement, sarcastic and cut throat colleagues. Too many webpages to refer. Late night meetings and trainings. Perm staff exclude contractors most of the times.

      Pros

      Smart people , diverse culture , professional environment. Most VPs (Gen X) are really top notch and deserve to learn from and look up to. Generous meal and gym allowances . Change is the only constant in Goldman. Great place to work if you like curve balls being thrown at you daily. Boot camp for GEN Y strawberries to mature into professionals (if you can survive for at least 3 years)

      Cons

      High turnover in some dumping ground departments [Especially in Operations] 1. You self resigned due to inability to cope. 2. You are laid off due to your incapability to perform to high expectations. Lots of Japanese as they are known for their work grinding habits but micromanagement and inflexibility are also causes for concern. Good luck if you have one that manages you. Roles in SGP office are mostly back end [ Operations & Finance ] and the more value adding MO to FO roles are predominantly based in HK and Tokyo offices. Folks tend to focus too much on changing for the sake of changing to justify their values and visibility till the change management create tons of downstream problems for others to pick up.
