Pros

Excellent opportunity for growth due to the nearly 100% turnover in mid to upper level management in multiple departments. Learn how to navigate a political minefield in which narcissism, rather than competence and ability, dictate your career path. Learn to be a self starter and discover the definition of LMGTFY since you'll likely have no resources or support. Actively apply teachings from Sun Tzu's Art of War as you deal with stressed out co-workers desperately clamoring for approval from the Emperor and his Royal Court. Become adept at identifying personality disorders and identifying the shortest escape route from the building with the highest probability of survival . . . you know, just in case.

Cons

The cafe in the lobby downstairs does not adequately stock homemade brownies.

Pros

Pay is decent, but it has to be to put up with a baby sitting CEO

Cons

No Direction, Getting distracted like Nemo with the light under the ocean, Too many reports, Business model is too complex, IT stinks but is propped up because CEO ran IT department. CEO is too young and inexperienced, No emotional intelligence. Health Plans run like a think tank, Teamwork is not promoted, Pleasing people with meaningless graphs. Authorization system sucks and cost too much money to maintain, Everyone who had extensive intrinsic knowledge on how to run a solid health plan are gone years ago, Hanging on by a thread, a huge surge of people quitting and hires over and over and over.

Pros

I would relate the turnover rate to a revolving door. With constant training of new hires no one really knows what is going on or proper procedures making personal accountability very low if not extinct.

Cons

After a recent state audit it was found the payout of claims are at 30%, the industry standard is around 90-93%. Also an internal audit found the prior authorization department failing at 25% accuracy. These are the kind of numbers you expect to find on a 60 minuets special..... The company does have some good talent trying to do the right thing, however the overall culture of the workplace is mostly negative. The CFO was let go due to his mathematical skills, also I was informed yesterday the COO was let go. Bottom line, if you have every had trouble with an insurance company not paying out or approving a procedure it is due to companies like this. I feel bad saying this as I worked for Health Choice for about 2 years and have made some great friends. However it is wrong not paying out to members or providers on justified claims. Families are getting screwed due to laziness and ignorance.
