Pros

1. Great experience with lots of deal flow on several property types 2. Good benefits: healthcare, free snacks, bonus holidays & holiday parties 3. Working alongside relatively intelligent professionals

Cons

1. Compensation is a joke: if you are an entry level employee, you'll get paid the same across departments, whether you work an intense 80-hour week, or a 9-to-5. Management feels little, if any, responsibility or pressure to compete in the marketplace or recognize employees' performance. Incentive compensation, raises, and promotions are of little concern. 2. Forget about having much of a life if you work in an intensive department. Late nights and weekends may be a regular occurrence. 3. No training whatsoever. You show up and begin working. Great for making mistakes and learning from them, but how do you anticipate the things you don't know that are unique to the company's processes?

Pros

Among Industry leaders, company has depth of talented individuals to utilize, good firm infrastructure, good exposure to real estate industry, office is in a great location

Cons

Positions within my department are very heterogeneous. The department has many different funds which leads to a lot of variation as far as work load expectations, responsibilities given, who you interact with, etc. which leads to a lot of unfairness with promotions and compensation. The bonus structure should be improved to more justly reward hard working employees instead of company performance vs. benchmarks that are totally out of most employee’s control. No salary increases given at year end 2008 into 2009 or into 2010 and very small increases (avg around 1%) for 2011.

Pros

Benefits are decent. People are mostly nice. They have a mentor system which is nice to meet people when you start. Annual bonus. CEO supposedly rose from the mail room all the way to the top.

Cons

If you're not an accountant, you are mostly ostracized socially. 3 years, no raise, no promotion even after being promised. Promotion from junior role was blocked with made up excuses despite high praise from managers. Some management has no business being in an IT department.
