Long hours, traditional leadership, no innovation, graveyard office
7 Dec 2022 - ManagerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
-large org chart, top heavy and usual PR work makes it easier to cruise. -friendly and hardworking colleagues but honestly there isn't very much progressive work because the leaders are afraid to take on challenging briefs
Cons
-long hours, traditional leadership, no innovation, graveyard office -not a place for young professionals who want a more dynamic environment or do innovative work. -uninspiring management and office built by interns labour. -management keeps showing good financial results in Asia but unwilling to invest in the people. - no bonus - tend to promote those who don't challenge the management - boring typical pr work - clique

A lot of room for opportunities
13 Apr 2022 - Anonymous Employee in SingaporeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
As an enabling employee, there's really a lot of room to grow and opportunities to work on. I joined H+K even after seeing all the negative reviews and I must say, the culture has really changed. It is no longer as negative as what others say, senior management has changed and they are empathetic towards their people. Focused more on fostering greater collaborations and not instilling a silo mentality. The current H+K Singapore employees are purely amazing and great to work with. Recognitions are being thrown around the office and even our interns or junior level employees are given a voice to speak up. Work culture has significantly improved since 2020 and we're getting better day by day.
Cons
I would love to say there's nothing negative but that would make this review sound rather fake. Probably the remuneration is quite average? But then again, let's not compare the agency x communications industry with in-house roles.

Pros
Global brand name, blue chip accounts
Cons
Long hours, average salary, non collaborative culture, generally a lot of negativity
- Former Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
Colleagues were a bunch of friendly and supportive individuals. Global seems to be willing to pump money into this anti-revenue generating “global hub”
Cons
Too many to even begin writing.

Nightmare on 50 scotts road
14 Apr 2019 - Anonymous Employee in SingaporeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Nice office building near the orchard shopping belt, also very centrally located and near Newton MRT which makes it easy for one to escape the toxic environment when necessary.
Cons
Where do i begin. Some will say the MD has vision, but she has created a toxic culture where that vision will never happen. She has empowered only a select few to disrespect, bully and belittle. These gangs, thriving on self-perceived importance, set the tone for everything and everyone else. And their behaviour, which includes everything from morally inappropriate comments about clients, direct and indirect ridicule of fellow colleagues, seeking out people who are vulnerable, submissive and non-confrontational to bully is almost criminal. Apart from these gangs who worship at the altar of the MD, there are no other leaders. Needless to say, the MD excessively controls most, if not all of the accounts, so there are plenty of "bad ideas" at this office. Any spark of creativity will be extinguished faster than one can say "fire", if you do not belong with the right crowd who clearly think teamwork means an internal "them", rather than "the wider us". Blame at the end of a failed win, is also easily handed around like hor'derves at a cocktail party. Enjoy your stay, if you want a part in a horror show, but as someone famous once said, "culture eats strategy for breakfast".

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear you’re unhappy with your experience at H+K. What you describe does not fit the culture we strive for at H+K – a place where everyone belongs and is empowered to fulfil their full potential. We’d like you to know that changes are underway. Also, we agree wholeheartedly with your statement that “a person’s value does not decrease based on someone’s inability to see your worth.” Treating colleagues with respect is fundamental to establishing a culture where people – and the company – thrive. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts. We wish you much success in your future! If you’d like to share additional feedback, don’t hesitate to email us at feedback@hkstrategies.com.
