    Pros

The company is huge in the Market Research field.

    Cons

Bad Management, a lot of politics(internally), no growth at all, minimum incentives, difficult to survive for freshers. No team leader wants you to stay and grow except a few. The overall environment of most of the teams is exhausting.

"Good place if you're looking to settle down for the long run, pay is not so great though."

I worked at IMRB full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

1- Legacy name. Anyone who understands anything about branding understands how difficult it is to achieve name recall. IMRB has a 45+ yr old history, so yes it is rightly called the University of Market Research in India. Thats a big plus in Market Research, an easy field to get into and frightfully competitive too, if you've seen agencies trying to make a name. Often one doesn't have to 'pitch' to clients unlike Ad agencies etc. In fact clients approach you on their own, unless its Govt work (usually involving a Tender). 2- Structured environment. So, there are definite roles etc and teams for each function are well defined. Helps a new recruit settle in fairly quickly, as also assimilate working skills quite quickly. 3- Mostly a good mix of youth and experience, and ideas can be shared across teams/divisions, though it also depends upon individuals and their people skills.

    Cons

1- Its an old setup, so the biggest problem is moving across organizational divisions. So, if you're in Quantitative Research, and wish to move to Qualitative, OR, if you wish to move to Brand from Social Research or Industrial Research, these moves are quite difficult. So, you get stuck for quite sometime, i.e., a longish time, within the same Division, and beyond a point the work becomes repetitive, boring and uninspiring. 2- For an organisation that is in a knowledge industry space, there is very little transfer of knowledge through an organized setup/database wherein one can access old studies and understand stuff. This was the situation when I was there. Whatever digital knowledge management system was there, it was rudimentary and useless, unless you knew someone who'd worked on something (as I mentioned in 'pros', you need to know people across teams/divisions for stuff if you haven't a clue. 3- High attrition rates, simply because the pay isn't so good for the amount of work done. Average churn time (or burnout) is about 3 years. I stayed for 4 years, but god knows I wanted out after 3rd year itself.
