Pros

Save money by living at work. Get on the fast track to becoming a mid-level manager by mastering how to be a yes-man. Learn to navigate office politics while choosing which meetings to attend.

Cons

May experience an unhealthy loss of time spent on extracurricular activities and interpersonal relationships.

Company leadership is stifling true potential

Pros

Benefits (established by the parent company Laitram) are superb. There is a lot of impressive manufacturing technology used throughout the operation. Generally smart and considerate employees. I am currently in a leadership position at Intralox but am likely going to accept an offer that I received from another company.

Cons

Many in the “senior management” group have been there in rotating roles for more than two decades. Some in this group do not live by the philosophy set forward by the company’s owners. There is a pattern of dishonesty, manipulation, blame shifting and rationalization among some in this group. Incompetent people are moved into senior positions, sometimes from sister divisions, only to fail after a few years. People is key positions can terminate good performers for no apparent reason leaving others bewildered. Even those with complaints to HR from multiple people continue to operate in positions of responsibility and “leadership”. Pet philosophies win the day, while established methods such as Lean Six Sigma are dismissed as “too detailed” or “too time consuming”. Current management does not adhere to or establish the correct processes. This results in thousands of wasted hours and duplicated efforts throughout the company, and profit margins are squandered. In the past few years some very good people have left the company in frustration.
