Pros

Down to earth, friendly small business atmosphere. Tries hard to be transparent with P&L by regular town hall meetings.

Cons

Horrible benefits. Everything about Juniper benefits is not competitive in today’s professional job market. 401k takes 6 years to vest and two years to see any company contribution. PTO policy is antiquated to what other companies had in 2001. Health insurance premiums are paid by the company as a perk, but only one option Which is HDHP and not a good fit for all policy. Many other common perks at other businesses are minimal there. Pay was also not competitive.

Juniper Systems Response

We appreciate your feedback and understand that benefits are an important factor when evaluating an employer. To clarify, while Juniper does allow you to make a 401k contribution, the company does not offer a traditional 401(k) match. Instead, we provide a Retirement Profit Sharing Contribution designed to support and retain long-term employees. The company’s contribution is based on the profitability of the company, and historically this contribution has far exceeded other local 401k matches in our market. Vesting in this plan starts after two years at 20% and increases incrementally, reaching 100% after six years of employment. Regarding PTO, combined with an alternative schedule for many employees our policy is structured to provide a strong work-life balance. Employees accrue 18 days per year, and after just four years of service, this increases to 26 days per year—which is more generous than many industry standards. We also encourage you to review our benefits section for a full breakdown of company-covered health insurance and many additional offerings. While we currently provide a company-paid HDHP along with significant money towards your personal HSA account, we understand that benefit needs vary and continuously evaluate ways to support our employees. We appreciate your input and are always looking for ways to enhance our offerings to better serve our team.

Pros

I love the mid-size company feel. Management is very transparent and caring. They've worked very hard to have an amazing company culture. Won best employer for a mid-sized company in Northern Utah 2023.

Cons

Salary isn't the best, but it is a mid-size company.
