Pros

Stable salary. That's it! Nothing else.

Cons

Too many... I don't know from where to begin... This place is full of evil. The management are very poor, black-hearted, closed-minded people. The university is full of shoe lickers from Pakistan, India, and Jordan. When you enter a building there, you feel like you are walking in Islamabad, New Delhi, or Amman Cities. Pakistanis, Indians, and Jordanians are very submissive here. They accept any kind of humiliations as long as the salary continues to flow at the end of the month! They form lobbies and abuse other nationalities. Your time gets booked completely because of useless committee meetings, department council meetings, seminar meetings, office hours, online meetings, students' meetings, meetings, meetings, meetings... You meet all day and all night long. Weekdays and weekends... It never ends!!! The management here love to talk about anything all the time. They have the ability to talk about things that have no title, no subject, or no conclusion... they just talk talk talk and you must sit there all the time from the very first second to the very last second, or you will get fired. They book your time completely and then ask you about your publications at the end of the year (they now need at least 4 publications per year!). They exploit all your energy in many useless things, then they evaluate you based on how many publications you did per year! Students there are very demanding. You must accept their suggestions or you will get fired back when they evaluate your performance at the end of the courses. Overall, it's a miserable place. I wasted 10 years of my life in this place hoping for any change in the future, but alas, it just gets worse and worse. I was an eye witness of many abuses here. Many bright scholars left the university in the past few years. They all couldn't tolerate the work environment and resigned or left their posts at the end of their contracts. They never value your work. All they want is to have submissive people who can accept all kinds of humiliations and abuses. That's why the university is filled with Pakistanis, Indians, and Jordanians. There is no future for this university in the presence of the current management. It used to be a good place 10 years ago, but the university track has gone way off the road under the current management. If they offered you a contract, my advice to you is to run away for your career, even if they put a million riyals for you on the table! Just escape and don't ruin your career here. The work environment here is very toxic and you shall lose your soul as the time passes by year after year.

Pros

I was an asian expat who studied and worked @ KFUPM from 2001 to 2014. Salary on time, the only pros.

Cons

Brown/black expats are the lowest in pay here and are treated as workhorses. For expat students: Keep this university as your last option for higher studies.Don't spoil your future by studying here. As a staff, don't ever dream of getting promoted here. You don't owe any respect either. You are just a slave in the eyes of the management. You are expected to share the load of your Saudi colleagues. Living off campus will be a nightmare for you and your family. Bottomline, If you are brown skinned, avoid KFUPM and the country itself as racism is widely prevalent. If you are white, you can expect a relatively higher salary along with respect from the employers. If you are already working here, try to get out asap, else you will be rendered worthless in the market if you are kicked out.

Pros

- Good money, better than some countries. - little structure and system. So , if you know how to play you can get a lot of money - Give you a house inside

Cons

- No one cares about your teaching - No one cares about you doing research, just publish papers even if to low conferences and journals. - Every nationality has their own group that works together to promote people from their country. Some faculties will befriends to some students from their countries and make their graduation a piece of cake.
