Pros

-5% RRSP Contribution match -Great project experience -Flexible work hours

Cons

-Incredibly far behind the technology curve: a 'new to KGS' Microsoft Enterprise email server was finally implemented in March 2018. A base Microsoft Office installation is Office 2003. You have to jump through hoops to get anything more capable. Document templates are clunky and don't use Word's built-in features. The bare minimum software is purchased and only if it's required for a project, it will not be purchased in order to generally increase productivity. Telephones are 15 years old, printers are about the same. -Very little negotiation room for salary increases after initial hiring (Standard 2-3% given even after exceptional performance review and request for raise). Lower salary compared to peers at other companies. -Management is very unorganized and overworked, resulting in everything being last-minute and poor-quality. -Ideas for improvement are greeted with a 'that's a great idea' but are never acted on. -The amount of red tape one has to go around for simple procedural improvements is unbearable, resulting in multiple teams doing their own thing. -There is an attempt at a safety culture, but there is no good example set by management to really adopt it. The company does the bare minimum to get COR Certification and there isn't much effort put in past that.

Pros

KGS has exciting job opportunities, a bright growing future, unlimited sick time, banked OT for additional time off,

Cons

Say they have a ‘flexible’ schedules but your expected to be in office 8-5, local management is very controlling, even if proving yourself multiple times they will not recognize you, will tell you that a promotion does not effect your pay - it does as you will be stuck in a salary range unless you get promoted, to get promoted even if some member believe you are worthy of it if one person disagrees it won’t happen - but they will tell you it’s because for contract purposes they need lower level members, management at the Thunder Bay office is a old white mans club and they very much treat the office this way, if they like you life is easy if they do not you will be searching for a new job.

Pros

Some decent colleagues and some good local and regional leaders outside of Winnipeg.

Cons

The company is frozen in the past but wants to grow. Life long “leadership” has failed up and have no business sense or common sense. Need new blood.
