      Pros

      Knight Foundation compensates their employees well and provides excellent benefits.

      Cons

      Leadership is out of touch with broad social changes. Leadership enables an unhealthy company culture which has lead to high turnover and dysfunctional organizational processes.

      Pros

      Wide range of initiatives and opportunities to engage in. Foundation's work has a broad impact and it's funding some important work. Great environment if you are involved/interested in community, journalism and digital media.

      Cons

      Fast paced environment with a often heavy workload driven by deadlines. High visibility (good) but that can expose weak work or skills quickly. Staff is lean and can carry broad range of responsibilities at times. Not all jobs have clear career paths at the foundation due to size and structure.

      -Knight Foundation has an incredible ability to attract smart, dedicated, interesting people, who come from a variety of professional and personal backgrounds. -The work itself is inspirational, and gives you an ability to have an impact almost regardless of where you are in the organization. -There is no better place to build a network in any of the communities or program areas where Knight is active. -Your Twitter followers will likely increase dramatically.

      Cons

      There is a lot of hierarchy for a relatively small organization (Board>President>VP>Director>Associate) . While Knight is open to new ideas as an organization, there is not a lot of internal mobility, so you should go in understanding exactly what to expect for your role and be sure you are comfortable with that role.
