Great potential marred by bungling executives

Pros

Fun and interesting work in a high-technology field. Fun coworkers for the most part. The flexible work schedule is very forgiving for family emergencies and other things that pop up in life. Ability to work from home and on the weekends is a plus

Cons

Executive leadership is absolutely clueless when it comes to technology, yet have strong opinions about it. They spout buzzwords and nonsensical technical jargon like ADD squirrels hyped up on high fructose corn syrup, and in general are paragons of ineptitude. They make poor decisions, and blame their subordinates when things go wrong. They make the Pointy Haired boss in Dilbert seem reasonable and competent.

Pros

The only pro was that the project I worked on was good. Unfortunately, the company ran it into the ground. Some employees are good people. Office facilities, parking and location is good.

Cons

The owners/leadership are a complete joke. They treat their employees badly. They run off the good people only leaving behind the bad ones. They run a technology company, but have no understanding of what it actually takes to execute a engineering project. Therefore good projects with potential get run into the ground, then the employees get the blame. The workplace can be very stressful when there is interaction with the C-Suite. To make matters worse, some coworkers will throw you under the bus to get ahead and are unfortunately encouraged to do so by some managers. Do your career and health a favor and stay away.

Bad Culture, Bad Leadership, No Future

Pros

Benefits are average for this type of business. Salaries are decent but not great. Work life balance and working conditions are generally good. There are quality people working there in some areas.

Cons

*Senior leadership has no experience doing the work, but are convinced they know more than the mid-managers or employees.who are doing the work. *Senior leadership routinely uses the Corporate staff to make up for bad business decisions. *Vision consists of "wanting" more revenue and more profit without ensuring adequate resources, vision or strategy to be successful. *Success is informally measured by how many hours you are at your desk working, regardless of whether it leads to anything. There is no formal measurement of success. . *Personnel are often hired for one job description but end up executing a different one after hire, then punished for not being able to meet expectations for the new position. *Expectations are extremely high without supporting justification. *New job titles and pay raises are awarded without a supporting performance system.. *New positions are created without a corresponding balance between responsibility, authority and accountability. *Employees move in and out of senior leadership's good graces based on the latest whim or business focus.
