      AED in MOE

3 Apr 2023 - Allied Educator (AED) in Seven Hills
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Nurturing the young ones give me immense satisfaction. As an AED, I usually get the tail-end classes. But when they come back years later as successful adults, I feel so proud of them.

      Cons

AEDs usually get looked down upon. Have been told things like: -Not a real teacher -You can't touch the exam papers -Only teachers can do these But when it comes to doing free labour, suddenly it became, "Oh, all teachers do these so you are also expected to do."

You already know this about teaching

8 Apr 2023 - General Education Officer in Sydney
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

It's generally seen as a steady job.

      Cons

Most of your work as a teacher is not going to be anywhere about teaching - it's about care for students, administration for their activities, etc - it's important, it's something that could drive you, but it's also something that will inevitably wear on you until either you burn out or you stop caring as much as you did before.
