Overall, the work is not great and no matter how supportive your big boss is in maintaining work life balance, the ministry is so big that it's hard for him to check in on every single staff.

Getting to experience and handle interesting cases Meaningful work
Cons
Your work is not appreciated. There is no room for error. Higher and middle management lacks empathy. They don't seem to care about officers' welfare. Gossipy colleagues. Quite a toxic work environment to be in. I see pregnant colleagues getting flamed for not being in office when their movement is really very restricted with a big tummy. I see colleagues who are stressed and need a break being persuaded to continue doing shift work. I see colleagues with family problems/marriage problems because of their absence at home. I see supervisors being unkind and passive aggressive to officers. Very gloomy place to be in.
