Company has weird values and culture

Pros

somewhat flexible hours considering it’s hospitality

Cons

bonus can be taken away from you with no warning for a number of different reasons. management do the bare minimum. if you’re good at your job you’ll be walked all over and taken advantage of so that their lazy employees can continue to do nothing and management won’t have to bother to do anything about it. Head office make choices that those in front of house positions have to deal with all the negative repercussions of and they simply don’t care as long as they’re making money and enjoying themselves.

Pros

Nice public areas . Food On duty but that’s where it stops

Cons

Weird company to work in the way it does things & operates ! Doesn’t pay overtime not even on bank holidays You get a “bonus” if it hits all the targets , that’s a big IF One thinks of German efficiency in todays modern economy but not with this one sadly ! A lot of things still done on paper & then put computer , why ? Do any other hotels in the U.K. still use registration cards ? Motel one does , bizarre Most beds are continental twins , this is the U.K. No hot food at breakfast No enough staff on duty Too much management , that old saying too many chiefs etc My hotel was clicky , staff relationships etc It’s like the old saying all fur coat & no knickers Would not recommend this company . While the hotel is a good design doesn’t make it a good employer

Dear former colleague, Thank you for your review and the time you've invested in writing it. I'm sorry to hear we didn't leave a good impression with you. At Motel One overtime is noted in the duty roster and can be reduced later by taking days off. In addition, Motel One pays night and holiday bonuses, depending on the collective agreement. Due to the current situation and the prevailing shortage of skilled workers in the hotel industry, it can unfortunately happen that departments are temporarily understaffed. This is of course not our intention. I wish you all the best. Kind regards, Fabian Frey

Dear colleague, Thank you for taking the time to review Motel One as an employer and your positive feedback regarding the team you work with. We try to avoid overtime as much as possible. Unfortunately, it can still happen occasionally (for example, due to short-term illness). In any case, it is noted in the work schedule and extra hours can be reduced at a later date. Nevertheless, we take your experiences regarding working hours and rest periods very seriously. We would very much like to better understand the individual points of your review and would be happy to hear from you at onecareer@motel-one.com. Kind regards, Luisa Ewert
