Pros

There is not much nice left to say about this company. NRC Health provides a flexible career opportunity. You are given ample PTO (20 days/year your first 5 years of employment). Happy Hours. Their CFO is the one good person left on their Executive Leadership team.

Cons

If you are potentially interested in working here, I would suggest you ask your interviewer some questions: -Ask them about employee turnover and why 50% of the Growth Team and Customer Operations have left over the past ~18-months. -Ask them why the internal NPS scores for employee satisfaction are at an all-time low (and have been trending lower and lower each time NRC surveys). -Ask them why they haven't attempted to retain any of their talent (individual high-performers as well as their management)? -Are they trying to make the books look a little better since sales are non-existent? -Ask them the average tenure of the last 100 employees who have left the company. -Ask them why they preach it takes a village, yet they are unwilling to share the wealth. -Ask them why there still isn't a single-sign-on platform where a customer can access all NRC via one user interface (this has been coming for 4+ years). -Ask them what the Product vision is for their software (because it's been non-existent). -Now ask yourself (after hearing their answers), is this a place you want to dedicate your time/effort to. Base salaries are a joke and they only incentivize the Growth team. Again, tell me how the rest of the company has no sway in the overall customer experience. The lack of support/leadership is appalling and it all starts with the CEO, COO, CGO, and CDO. This group of "leaders" is stuck in the 1990s. They shout from the rooftop about "Human Understanding" and about being part of a "Flat Organizational hierarchy", yet somehow they continue to be so misaligned with what their employees are seeking that they've lost almost all of their Growth Team over the past year, over half of their Strategic Advisors (the worthy ones of that title), most of their highly thought of managers, and countless employees. The amount of industry knowledge and best practices that has (on their own) walked out of the door is incomprehensible.

Pros

There are some exceptionally talented people at NRC, and the work can be rewarding depending on what team/area you're in.

Cons

There's no clear vision nor the means to achieve that vision in terms of resources, training, and support. The only thing Mike Hays cares about is earning money for himself. Don't get me wrong - he's exceptionally good at it, but if you have any notion that his interest in or loyalty to you extends beyond your capacity to make him richer, you're mistaken. He hires yes-men (and a few yes-women) who have no ethical qualms about treating others like garbage and settling old scores once they are put into power. Several of these "leaders" would be working at gas stations or grocery stores if they hadn't lucked into Mike Hays' good graces 20 years ago. There's a history of promoting people who don't deserve it and in fact don't know the first thing about the business or the way to truly develop associates.

For anyone who wants professional growth, don’t work here.

Pros

Extremely relaxed PTO policy and no accountability for underperforming

Cons

For anyone who has a growth mindset for their career, I’d look elsewhere. The organization unfortunately favors certain people for promotions, and has zero training pathway for any management level person even if you get one. The organization acts like it supports and values their employees, but greatly underpay compared to the competitors in the market (some of them by 2x as much). On top of that, they pride themselves on human understanding and listening to “every customer story”, but on the employee engagement surveys of 2021 that kept showing a worsening employee spirit, no upper level management seemed to be invested in listening whatsoever. Last thing that is a struggle for any young professional is when you are exposed to senior leaders gossiping about other leaders & the devaluing the strategic vision that is being preached to employees. Since most senior leaders are so detached from the daily tasks and function of the company, they remain unaware and seem to be happy keeping it that way. Such an uncomfortable and unstable culture.
