Pros

Good pay Good coworkers Good benefits

Cons

So happy to get the job, but you get there and discover that management and trainers have no clue how to do their jobs. Employees, especially CSWs get no respect and management regularly undermines staff in front of clients. There is no work life balance and no staff appreciation (even though there are funds allotted for it), and they regularly try to take away more and more benefits. Managers and supervisors are not hired to be leaders, they are followers who perpetuate the toxic work environment.

Toxic Work Culture

Pros

I honestly cant think of one.

Cons

Poisonous Management, direct from director level. Zero trust for professionals (RN's) and a culture of disvaluing input, effort and ability. Managers refuse to pay overtime to staff while they themselves receive OT bonuses (Sunshine List). Managers spend more time "hunting" their staff then they do developing. Make sure you don't suffer from anything mental health related or for that matter, physically because you will not be accommodated and in fact will be targeted.

Play the game

Pros

Gold plated career for life if you play the game, look busy and make your boss look good. More holidays and better pay than the private sector by far.

Cons

Make one wrong slip and you will be on the sidewalk with a box of your belongings in hand and usually a decent payoff to stay quiet. Look busy all the time and you should be left alone.
