Take this company with a pinch of salt.

Pros

- Excellent location. - Great staff to work with, mostly young graduates, who are all super friendly and happy to help with anything. - Interesting work with an engaging premise. - A good experience for graduates who are just starting out in their careers and need somewhere to get a leg up on the ladder.

Cons

- Inconsistent interview process; some candidates would be waiting for a decision for weeks, others for one day. - There are no employee benefits -- you are not entitled to company sick leave, there are no "fun bonding activities" (and when they rarely happen they are often followed by a sacking or something else not as fun), or "dress-down Fridays". These things are not considered important. Furthermore, this is the only company in the building that does not give its employees access to the building's roof terrace -- and there has not been an explanation for this. - Further on from the point above, it is a possibility that management do not trust their employees. There does not seem to be an obvious reason for this, apart from paranoia. Employees have on occasion been asked to "report back" on their colleagues, or asked questions in private meetings that relate to other people as a way of getting information on their staff. - Furthermore, despite it being a small start-up, employees are given very little insight into the running and the strategy of the company, and are often left wondering if the work that they are doing is what the management is looking for. In addition to this, if management do ask an employee to complete a task, they will often change their minds at least three or four times before the task is complete, and on occasion it may even be dropped without warning. - Criticism of management is generally not welcome. - Employees do not get references unless they have worked at the company for more than a year. - There is no HR department. There are no clear structures or procedures in place for any of the things that are usually related to HR (interviews, handovers, holidays, etc). - Employees are not allowed to eat lunch in their offices. Not a huge issue -- until one factors in the totally unsuitable tiny size of the kitchen facilities on the floor (only four chairs for the entire floor!), and the aforementioned lack of roof terrace access, which often forces employees to leave the building entirely. - Management do expect the highest standard from all their employees, which is not necessarily a bad thing, except that management often cannot reach those very same standards themselves. For example, employees will be criticised for the spelling and grammar in emails or documents, when in fact management are often the worst offenders when it comes to incorrect spelling and grammar - especially in official communication. - And when it comes to communication, employees should not expect very much of it - unless management need something from them. In summary, this employment has been a decent enough experience, and employees will come out of it having learned a lot -- but this is not enough to recommend to others.

Pros

Great people to work with. There is a true spirit of togetherness. Beautiful location in city of London with access to all amenities.

Cons

No clear direction or instruction when given a task: you are told to do something and when you present it, for no apparent reason, you are told you got it all wrong. Regardless of the fact that during the course of execution you may have raised several legitimate issues- management does not accept wrong doing or advice. No regard for motivation: clear divide between management and staff. you do not feel encouraged to share ideas because they are so engrossed in mere rhetoric (we want to hear your ideas) and rarely have they implemented staff initiatives. Only after time has gone by and the staff has either left or been terminated, then they take credit for the idea. Misrepresentation, manipulation of true intentions: many feel ''lured'' into their current Account manager roles. This is because they were interviewed and recruited for other roles but lured into accepting account manager based on the promise of career progression in initial chosen field. Needless to say many of the desperate recent graduates or desperate recent migrants feel lost for choice. The lies do not end where mobile operators are concerned! Staff are encouraged to embellish accomplishments and progress. Fortunately, mobile operators see through and the company is failing to make any true breakthrough. Lack of sustained strategy/effort: every simple procedure becomes clout with poor organisation, lots of back and forth and this leads to confusion, disorientation, disillusionment, reduction of respect for management who by the way lack leadership traits: all they are, are managers and to say that is giving them too much credit! Extremely unusually high labour turnover: on average staff leave after 8 months. Not normal, even for a start-up!

Pros

The team of account managers & support staff are super friendly, good to work with on a daily occasion. Away from the stresses of the job, they are a good support unit to rely on away from the pressures written below. Many are young (1-2 years out of university). The location is also good, situated at the heart of the City in really nice & smart offices. The work is interesting and stimulating. It looks good on your CV, working for a global start-up, and talking to big companies around the world.

Cons

Significant bureaucacy hinders much of the work that you do. Nearly everything must be signed off and/or discussed with senior management. It's made worse under the illusion that you have autonomy in what you do. While that is understandable, the need to document every single thing takes a lot out of your time. Management are really cut-throat and arbitrary. One thing is said, another is done, under the pretense that the 'company is growing'. The same soundbites are said over and over again to reassure direction, though this simply isn't the case. On many occasions (too many to count), you walk in on a Monday morning, and there is change across the table - either your work process is changed, somebody is fired etc. There is no fluidity to your work. While professionally, management are suspect - it is worse personally. There is always an aura of distrust from above, which makes you feel that you are worth nothing. After more than a year in the job, you feel that this will never change. They always ask you about whether your CV is up elsewhere, asking you to 'rat' on colleagues, and on a few occasions, being downright nasty to some employees. In the building, there is a rooftop available to all employees of every company based in the building. You do not have access, for no specified reason - the only company in the building not to do so. There are no benefits in addition to remuneration. No pension contribution schemes, no healthcare, no season ticket loans, etc that you may see in most other roles. As remuneration is not nearly as high for similar roles, especially given you are working in Central London, many people become quickly disillusioned. It is not a place you feel you can remain for very long. You feel that you cannot question or say anything to management, even if it is for the benefit of your work with clients. You also feel that you cannot criticise in any case, as you will be reported by an individual. The management are very confrontational, and do not like/cannot take criticism. This shouldn't be the case in a rising company, but it makes you feel like you're in school. In any other company, criticism breeds good change for the benefit of all.
