Not all change is good change

Pros

Still pockets of goodness across the business. Good parental leave policy and childcare subsidy

Cons

Swathes of redundancies, portfolios move from Executive to Executive with little cohesive explanation, lots of politics/bureaucracy. The majority of those that built the business have now departed leaving a significant gap in IP and culture. Sadly, the majority of the senior female talent have gone now with many made redundant. Internal HR appears to be lacking in experience in how to manage this period of significant change. The adage “it’s not what you know but who you know” rings true.

Very quick decline

Pros

It used to be a great place to work, with a clear focus.

Cons

The current leadership have done a good job of reducing the business valuation by over a billion dollars and going from profitable to unprofitable. No clear path to resolve. Leadership continue to spend lots of money on things that are not valuable to customers in the UK and AU so they generate very small returns, if any. Questionable agreements with the CEOs ‘friends’ with interesting practices to get approval for significant spend. The board don’t hold the Leadership team to account for the lack of results. If you are a white man over 50 and connected to the CEO or CFO you will do well. HR don’t have HR experience so don’t expect an appropriate level of support if needed.

Pros

There are still great people at the working level of the organisation. The flexible working arrangements are ok, however I got the sense that they really want people to come in everyday (the free food is a giveaway). Benefits for those having babies is top notch.

Cons

The culture has changed dramatically over the last 3 years and not for the good. It seems like the new executive team wants to erase the successful past that PEXA had which includes many of the people who made it successful. There is now a feeling that you keep quiet, don't ask any questions and definitely don't make a mistake. There have been a number of rounds of redundancies of late and sounds like more to come so if you are after job security this is probably not the place for you. Check out the PEXA shareprice and how it has tracked over the last two years, directly correlates with the demise of the culture. The focus and care for customers is not what it use to be, its now about profits and announcements to the market to try and lift share price. In essence short termism is "king" and priorities change all the time. Many people in the the PEXA team wonder what the Board are doing and why they aren't taking action, hopefully they can turn it around.
