Pros

Great energy. Nice brands. Manj (owner) is an excellent creative director (beware of his gift of the gab at times even though it’s outstanding). Great processes. Awesome motion team. Decent work-life balance.

Cons

Cliques. Below market pay rates. Tsz (other owner) is a very acquired taste - sometimes unpalatable.

Knee jerk good reviews after accurate 'bad' ones

Pros

It's a common theme but the people you work with have your back and support you.

Cons

As you may notice on these reviews, once a negative one goes up, a beaming review, praising the management and xmas trips arrives a few days later. Make of that what you will, it's drowning out the real experience at Pink Squid. I've seen some very good people leave due to the environment here. It's really uncomfortable to see people being put under this type of pressure and treated with nastiness, not just by management but other colleagues who encourage it.

INCOMPETENT BUSINESS MANAGEMENT - AVOID

Pros

There are some lovely people at this agency, where you can learn and improve your skills really quickly. Working was initially very flexible (although this changed in September), and I personally had a wonderful line manager and team. It's a young workforce with lots of energy and pretty frequent socials. There were some big client names to work on, too – so a good opportunity to develop a portfolio.

Cons

The people at the top are ridiculously incompetent. During the hiring process, I was told that the company was expanding. After I joined, at least five other employees were taken on. The office was expanding in size too, to account for the increase in head count. HOWEVER, after just FIVE MONTHS (and entirely out of the blue) the directors made 10% of the workforce redundant, including myself. I hadn't finished my probationary period yet, and was dismissed without any severance pay or notice. There was absolutely ZERO warning, as we were all under the impression that the company was doing well enough to expand so rapidly. I was not the only person to be made redundant while under probation. This is SHOCKING business management, and is a diabolical way to treat people. Clearly, the decision-makers are clueless - DON'T RISK WORKING HERE. In regards to these redundancies, the directors didn't involve any senior leaders in their decisions – they chose employees without consulting those who had actually worked closely with them. My own line manager had no idea I was going to be made redundant. Honestly, I never would've expected this from a company that's 60 people in size.
