The company is not trying to come up with an actual product, but prefers to sell conceptual demos of very rudimentary proprietary technology bundled with other products. Great ideas have been around for a while and have been actively silenced.
Management is trying to enforce an authoritarian culture in which everybody is expected to sacrifice themselves for the company, yet no real incentive exists and innovation is not encouraged. It's a clear case of "responsibility without authority".
Treatment by management is based entirely on how well they get along with you. If they don't like you they will treat you poorly until you resign or swiftly fire you if you dare to speak up. Once you're labeled as a "negative person", you know you're on your way out.
Directors are not chosen due to their competence, but to show off their years of experience for military contracts. A lot of talent was lost due to lack of upwards mobility and these directors seeing team leads as a threat to their authority.
